Mark Okraku Mantey does not have the vision needed to take up Deputy Minister of Creative Arts position- Shatta Wale
Shatta Wale has given his opinion on whether Mark Okraku Mantey is fit for the Deputy Minister of Creative Arts, Tourism and Culture position as recommended by some. The ”Hajia Bintu” hitmaker expressed that the Ministry of Creative Arts has been purposeless so long a time that it needs to be dissolved. Shatta opined that the industry needs an infusion of technology and new ideas that Mark Okraku Mantey does not possess. According to the SM Boss, Mark, who is a pioneer in the music industry does not have the vision needed to take the industry to the next level. Shatta Wale’s exact words were, “If our leaders are listening to me, I think it Ministry of Creative Arts, Tourism and Culture is something that they need to dissolve. We are in the technology world now. Someone like Mark Okraku Mantey can’t be there. Our leaders need to know. I am not saying it because I want to spoil his job. His job was a producer who became a Programmes Director at wherever he is but people like that don’t have a vision.” ”Up till now, I haven’t seen his house. He cannot encourage me. Up to now, I have not seen certain things in the industry that has pushed me. We are talking about creative arts here. But ask yourself how many artistes have gotten their royalties in the industry. In this music industry that we are in, Amakye Dede is still complaining,” he added. Shatta Wale called recommendation for a ministerial appointment for the record producer turned Programs Director baseless and a recipe for disaster. SOURCE: GHPAGE
Nana Konadu touching tribute: You were for Ghana and then for me
Wife of the late Jerry John Rawlings, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, says her late husband was God’s greatest gift to her. This was contained in a tribute read on her behalf by Princess Amina Rawlings during the final funeral rites and burial ceremony of the late Rawlings at the Independence Square, Accra. According to her, though they had their ups and downs, their love kept them together. “You expected me to prove my worth, by refusing to help my organisation financially and challenging me flatly to raise my own funds if I felt the cause was important enough,” she said. She added that the experience taught her to be independent, helping her step out herself to seek support for her Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), a Women’s Movement. She said that decision is one that she appreciates and understands better today because it showed her the importance of separating her business from that of the government. “Today, I appreciate and understand the importance of separating my NGO Women’s Movement work from government business. I went all around the world boldly fundraising and shamelessly negotiating in different sectors for opportunities for Ghanaian women and children,” she wrote. Source: adomonline.com

Another Daughter Of Late Formal President Jerry John Rawlings Pop Up
Ghanaians and lovers of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings are not done settling and addressing the issues surrounding the alleged first daughter of the former president who just surfaced a few days ago. Another woman who also claims to be the daughter of JJ has also surfaced with her own story to back her claims. The woman who identified herself as Kate Yeboah Rawlings in telling her story in a telephone interview narrated that her mother met the late former President at Breman Asikuma where she resided, leading to a relationship. According to her, her single mother was finding it difficult to cater for her and therefore handed her over to her an aunt and her husband who happens to be military personnel. Kate continued that her aunt started to call her Zanetor which struck her to find out about herself and her biological father. It was during that period that her aunt opened up about being the daughter of JJ Rawlings adding her mother at one time even collapsed upon hearing the name JJ Rawlings a thing that heightened her suspicion. Asked why she decided to keep this private until after his death, she disclosed that she wasn’t too sure to be accepted by his immediate family hence kept quiet. She, however, alleged that she had a father-daughter bond with the late former president to the extent that he was financing her and her children to make up for the lost years they have been apart. As it stands now, both ladies are yet to prove beyond reasonable doubt that they are actually daughters of the late stateman. SOURCE: GHPAGE

Ghana: New COVID-19 variant not recorded at the community level – GHS
Ghana has not recorded any community case of the new variant of the Coronavirus disease although a few cases have been recorded at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra. The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, who made this known at a press briefing in Accra on Monday, said a few cases of the UK variant as well as that of South Africa had been recorded at the airport, which was from air travellers. According to him, although the new variant had not been officially recorded at the community level, “the chances are that we may have them and that may be responsible for the increasing number of spread.” He noted however that his outfit was yet to conduct a search “to see whether we actually have a community presence of the [new] variant.” Dr Kuma-Aboagye also indicated that all the 16 regions in Ghana have reported active cases as of January 22. He added that the number of people who were falling severely and critically sick was worrying. “About 32 per cent of people testing positive are actually falling sick,” he noted. Concerning the total number of deaths in the month of January, Dr Kuma-Aboagye said: “We have actually recorded a little more than 32 in January.” New cases There are currently a total of 3,525 active cases of the disease in Ghana as of Monday, January 25, 2021. According to Dr Kuma-Aboagye, 646 new cases were recorded between January 21 and 22. He noted further that the number of persons falling critically sick after testing positive was putting a strain on the limited beds at the various treatment centres. He said out of the 411 beds, persons who were severely or critically sick had occupied 133. KIA As of January 24, the Kotoka International Airport had recorded 1,085 positive cases Out of that 41 per cent were Ghanaians, while 59 per cent were non-Ghanaians. Next steps Outlining the steps to be taken to curb a further surge of cases, Dr Kuma-Aboagye said the Food and Drugs Authority had approved the use of antigen testing to ascertain the degree of community spread in hotspots. He added that antigen testing would also be conducted for suspected cases in schools and workplaces, as well as health facilities when workers are exposed. Also, public health laboratories would offer a 24-hour service. Source: arkfmonline
21 Bitcoin Block Rewards from 2010 Wake Up, $236M Worth of ‘Satoshi Era’ BTC Spent in 10 Months
On Monday, January 25, 2021, at roughly 2 a.m. (EST), the notorious old school miner from 2010 has spent another consecutive 21 decade-old block rewards with 1,050 bitcoin. This is possibly the same mining entity our newsdesk has been tracking for months. The bitcoin from 2010 moved today follows the exact same pattern as all the block reward strings our team has caught waking up during the last ten months. For quite some time now, news.Bitcoin.com has been monitoring so-called ‘sleeping bitcoins’ that are starting to wake up after ten years. In 2020, our newsdesk has noticed that a great number of old-school bitcoin spends from 2010 have been transferred in consecutive strings of 20 to 21 block rewards and all of them confirmed in a single block. On Monday at 2 a.m., which is roughly around the same time frame the other coinbase reward strings have been spent in the past, 21 block rewards were transferred. Our newsdesk caught the action with the help of Btcparser.com’s blockchain parser and visual perspectives from theholyroger.com web portal as well. All of these decade-old bitcoin block rewards held approximately 50 BTC per block and 999.99 BTC ($33.6M) was consolidated into a single address. As usual, the 999 BTC was again split into multiple fractions and followed the same movements as the previous string spends. The very last time news.Bitcoin.com reported on a large string of block reward spends from 2010, Russian blockchain researcher, Issak Shvarts, told our newsdesk that “these bitcoins are now owned by the crypto exchange Coinbase.” All of the coins worth over $35 million spent on January 25, 2021, were confirmed at block height 667,558. Moreover, the corresponding bitcoin cash (BCH) block rewards were moved as well on Monday. Similar to all the other past spend, besides the March 11, 2020 transfer, the corresponding bitcoins (BSV) has not been touched. Now interestingly, this pattern all stemmed from 2010 blocks mined in August, September, and October. This is identical to all the past strings of ‘Satoshi era’ bitcoin transfers from 2010 that have been caught in the past. However, as mentioned above, BTC block height 667,558 saw 21 block rewards spent from 2010, and the first spend did not follow the 999 BTC that was possibly transferred to an exchange. 49.49 BTC was transferred to one address and half of a bitcoin was sent to another address, which still sits idle. Moreover, just before the 21 decade-old blocks spent in block 667,558, two inconsistent 2010 blocks were spent at block height 667,534 and 667,538. The first spend was unique because the coinbase block reward was created on December 12, 2010. December 12, 2010, is special because it was the very last day Satoshi Nakamoto wrote openly to the entire Bitcoin community on the forum bitcointalk.org. The 2010 block spend from December did not see the corresponding BCH or BSV spent. 19.9 BTC and 30 BTC were sent to two addresses and then split into fractions and likely sent to an exchange. Presently, from our collective research, we believe that the person who has transferred the significant number of strings from 2010 is very likely the same entity. It is always roughly around the same number of 2010 coinbase rewards, all mined during the same months, and all spent ten years later at around the same timeframe during the early morning hours (EST). The entity always methodologically follows the exact same pattern and seems to care less about privacy. Another possible theory tied to this miner could indicate this individual or group of individuals mined a whole lot of bitcoins in 2010. For instance, if this person is the same entity, they have spent well over 7,000 BTC stemming from 2010 worth over $236 million using today’s exchange rates. Of course, if the entity spent these coins right away they would have received far less than $236 million for each transfer’s spot price on the day the block rewards were moved. Furthermore, following the recording of all the 2010 block rewards spent in blocks 667,534, 667,538, and 667,558, a single 50 BTC block reward ($1.5M) mined on November 5, 2010, was spent at block height 667,629. What do you think about today’s 1,000 bitcoin spend from the 2010 block rewards? Let us know what you think about this subject in the comments section below. Source: news.bitcoin.com
Tension Build Up As Supreme Court judges grill Tony Lithur
The hearing of the 2020 Election Petition at the Supreme Court continued today, Tuesday, January 26, 2021, with hearing starting at exactly 9:30 am as scheduled. Again, the Lead Counsel for the Petitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata, was not in court when hearing commenced, but Tony Lithur stood in and introduced himself followed by Justin Amenuvor with Somuah Asamoah for 1st Respondent; and Akoto Ampaw with Frank Davies, Kwaku Asirifi and Yaw Oppong for 2nd Respondent. The Petitioner was represented by the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo. The 1st Respondent was represented by the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa, whilst 2nd Respondent was represented by 2020 New Patriotic Party Campaign Manager, Peter Mac Manu. Mr Lithur began by pleading with the court for the matter to be temporarily suspended in order for his colleague Mr Tsikata to come to court. But, the court in sharp response indicated the official time for a hearing was 9:30 am and that all processes filed originated from the law firm of Mr Lithur and he has been the one signing all of them, hence he was competent to deal with the matter. The Panel continued to ask many questions relating to the failure of the Petitioner to obey its orders to file witness statements and a response to the written submissions of the Respondents on the preliminary legal objection. The following were some of the questions asked and responses from Mr Lithur: Bench: Your understanding of stay of proceedings is that you don’t file processes ordered by the court? Mr Lithur: Our application is intended to stay or hold proceedings. Bench: You say stay means not to file processes but even yesterday, you filed processes so you choose and pick what to file. Let me understand you, by filing stay are you saying you need not file the witness statements and the written submission? Bench: You filed the petition, you came to this court and submitted your cause of action and reliefs. You said you had five witnesses and we ordered all counsel to file their witness statements, why have you not filed? Mr Lithur in all these sought to impress on the court that the determination of their review related to the issues and the witness statements, hence their decision not to file but rather file the stay. Bench: Are you saying that in case the review is refused, you would not file witness statements? Mr Lithur: We will file without the issues in the application. Bench: Then why not comply and when it is granted, you file a supplementary. Why are you not obeying the orders of court but you want the court to hear you? After some few minutes of questions and answers with Mr Lithur, the judges went on recess. At 10:23 am, the court resumed hearing and the Chief Justice, Anin-Yeboah, who is the presiding judge for the seven-member panel, read a ruling. The court noted in its ruling that at pre-trial on 20th January 2021, issues were settled and the court gave directives for filing of witness statements and submissions on preliminary legal objection and responses thereof. The court further stated that while all Respondents complied fully with its orders, the Petitioner failed to do the same but rather filed a stay of proceedings. The court then stated that before it listens to the Petitioner on its interlocutory applications, the Petitioner should comply with its prior orders and whatever issues arise from the hearing of Petitioner’s interlocutory application can be incorporated into the hearing of the matter during the trial. The court strongly criticised the Petitioner for refusing to comply with the orders of the court, yet was seeking an audience from the same court. The court then drew Petitioner’s attention to Rule 69(C) (4B) of C.I. 99 which empowered it to dismiss a petition where a party fails to file processes relating to the petition within specified time and how those provisions have been reproduced in C.I. 87 of the High Court. The court then reissued its directive for the Petitioner to file his witness statements and respond to the Preliminary legal objection by Respondents by close of day Wednesday, 27th January 2021. If the Petitioner fails, the court will invoke its powers to dismiss the Petition. Counsel for the Petitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata, expressed gratitude to the court and the matter was adjourned to Thursday, January 28, 2021. Source: adomonline
