Disappointing that the GES Director-General was fired – NAGRAT

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service was fired by President Akufo-Addo, according to the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and this has the organization concerned (GES). The development, in the opinion of NAGRAT, is disheartening. In a media interview on Tuesday, the association’s president, Angel Carbonu, stated that it has also left his members mostly unsatisfied. “I am quite disappointed by this. We are taken aback since we had someone who was able to establish a strong rapport with the union, according to Mr. Carbonu.

In a letter from the Presidency dated Monday, October and signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, the Secretary to the President, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa was fired. The aforementioned letter states that the GES is no longer in need of his expertise. According to a letter from the Ministry of Education, “the exigencies that needed your abilities and knowledge as Director-General of the Ghana Education Service no longer exist.” The President sent him his best wishes for his next undertakings. The letter continued, “The President appreciates your service to the country and wishes you the utmost best in your future endeavors.”
