The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has taken action to renew the curfew hours for Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships and their surrounding areas in the Oti Region. By Executive Instrument, the new curfew hours will be enforced from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am starting on Sunday, March 1, 2024.

A statement released by the Ministry expressed gratitude to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents of the area for their ongoing efforts in maintaining peace. The government encourages them to continue utilizing established mechanisms for resolving conflicts and disputes.

The statement also emphasizes a ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within the two towns and their environs. Any individual found in possession of such items will face arrest and prosecution, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
