Akufo-Addo’s vow to God revealed by Duncan-Williams

The man of God indicated that when he was recently asked to be part of the board of trustees for the construction of the national cathedral, he decided to see President Akufo-Addo for an explanation on his decision to put up such a cathedral. Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams who revealed this Friday night said one of Nana Akufo-Addo’s close confidantes approached him after losing the 2012 election to inquire what he [Akufo-Addo] could do to become the President of Ghana.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo told him: “I made a vow to God that if I become president I will see to it that a national cathedral is built to his name and glory. It has emerged that a vow by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to construct a national cathedral to the glory of God, unlocked his electoral fortunes in 2016 leading to his election as the President of Ghana, after two successive failures. Archbishop Duncan-Williams noted it was at that point that he knew the president would need help to make that vow materialize he resolve to be part of the board of trustees for the cathedral.

He said since he committed to be part of the trustees against all his personal commitments, God has blown his mind in ways he can’t explain. And as a spiritual man, as I looked him in the eye, I was convinced and I believed that that was the key that unlocked his victory”.

Nana Akufo-Addo who run and lost the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections was said to have prior to the 2016 elections, based on the spiritual direction of Archbishop Duncan Williams, vowed to construct a national cathedral in honour of God if he is elected as the President.

“The gentleman came to me and said he [Nana Akufo-Addo] has made a vow and I said what is the vow, and he said he’s [the President] made a vow that when he becomes the president, he will see to it that a national cathedral is built to the glory of God and to the name of the Lord.

Speaking at the launch of a fundraising campaign for the construction of National Cathedral in Accra, the founder of Action Chapel International said prior to the 2016 elections, the confidante, who he declined to name, visited him again to inform him that Akufo-Addo has vowed to construct a national cathedral to honour God should He make him President.
