The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has ignited a heated discussion online following his recent address urging church members to avoid abortion, even in cases of unexpected pregnancies.
In a trending video, Apostle Nyamekye shared a personal story during a sermon, revealing how he faced criticism from other pastors for having numerous children.
“When I welcomed my sixth child, I overheard some pastors gossiping about me, questioning how I could manage to read the Bible with so many kids,” he recounted. “One of them even remarked that having too many children could disrupt my ministry. Yet, here I am, still standing strong.”
Refuting concerns that having a large family could be a financial constraint or an obstacle to ministry work, he confidently stated, “The God who can provide for one can certainly care for ten.”
While he was clear that he was not promoting excessively large families, Apostle Nyamekye emphasized his opposition to abortion, labeling it as ‘an abominable act.’
“I’m not advising you to have 20 or 30 children. My challenge to you is to not terminate a pregnancy. Don’t worry about it. Don’t commit what is an abominable act just to save money for something like a house. How can you compare a house to a human being?”
He encouraged his congregation to practice safe sex and, if faced with an unplanned pregnancy, to choose life.
“Be careful, but if you do become pregnant, give birth cleanly,” he advised.
His sermon has received mixed reactions online. While some praise his pro-life message, others highlight the financial difficulties of raising multiple children.
