Big Push Road Projects Begin in Afienya as Mahama Starts Dawhenya-Ayikuma-Dodowa and Tema-Aflao Roads

President John Dramani Mahama has launched the Big Push Road Projects in Afienya.
He cut the sod to start work on the Dawhenya-Ayikuma-Dodowa and Tema-Aflao roads.

The launch signals the first step of his ambitious infrastructure plan.
Mahama said Ghana faces an annual infrastructure gap of about US$1.5 billion.

He stressed that roads remain the top priority under the Big Push Road Projects.
The government will first link regional capitals to improve national travel.

District roads will follow to connect communities more effectively.
Agricultural and industrial zones will then benefit from improved road access.

Mahama reminded citizens that he pledged to upgrade the Dawhenya-Ayikuma-Dodowa road.
He noted that construction has begun to honor that commitment.

Funding for the Big Push Road Projects already stands at GH¢13.9 billion.
An extra GH¢30 billion will be added in 2026 to expand development.

The President said this money will support health, education, agriculture, agribusiness, and sports.
He also announced that 166 constituencies with poor roads will gain yearly projects.

Each constituency will get 10 kilometres of new roads and drains per year.
Over four years, that will total 40 kilometres for every constituency.

Mahama confirmed that the Road Fund will release GH¢5 billion annually for maintenance.
He explained that pothole repairs and drain clearing will be a major focus.

Strong transport infrastructure, he added, drives economic growth and transformation.
Mahama assured Ghanaians that local contractors will deliver quality work.
