The National Identification Authority (NIA) has rejected circulating Ghana Card validity rumours, confirming that the ID maintains its 10-year duration.
Head of Corporate Affairs, Williams Ampomah E. Darlas, explained that the Ghana Card remains valid for a decade after issuance, with renewal required by law.
According to the NIA, reports suggesting a reduced lifespan are misleading. The Authority noted that its Executive Secretary never announced such a change. Instead, he only suggested that future systems could evolve with technological advances.
The 10-year cycle, the NIA stated, fits both the durability of the card and the natural changes in cardholders’ features over time.
Citizens have been urged to dismiss Ghana Card validity rumours and rely on official communication from the Authority.
