The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement refuting claims of a raid on the residence of the Bono East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ibrahim Baba Bukari. According to the Police, reports circulating in the media are false and misleading.
The Police stated that they responded to a robbery incident around 1:20 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, after receiving intelligence about a robbery attempt in the area. During the operation, one of the suspects was shot and later pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang had returned to Techiman to commit a robbery when they were intercepted by the Police. The gang was found in possession of a motorbike and other implements believed to be used in the robbery.
The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to disregard the misinformation and assured that the facts of the case will be made fully known as investigations progress.
The Police have assured the public that a thorough investigation into the matter is underway, and the Inspector-General of Police has deployed a team to ensure that justice is served.
