Ghana’s Trade Minister Urges Strategic China-Africa Investment at CAETE 2025

Ghana Pushes for Strategic China-Africa Investment at 2025 Trade Expo

Ghana’s Minister for Trade, Agribusiness & Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has made a strong appeal for transformational China-Africa collaboration during the China-Africa CEO Dialogue at the 4th China-Africa Economic & Trade Expo (CAETE) in Changsha, China.

Addressing over 500 high-level delegates from government, business, and finance, the Minister emphasized that Africa stands at a crucial point of economic transformation, and called on Chinese investors to go beyond transactional trade to long-term strategic partnerships that promote technology transfer, sustainable industrialization, and value-added production across the continent.

Why Ghana Is a Strategic Investment Destination

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare highlighted Ghana’s peaceful business climate, adherence to the rule of law, and its geographic advantage as the center of the world. She cited existing successful Chinese enterprises in Ghana—such as Zonda Sinotruk, Sunda, Keda, Sentuo, Sunon Asogli, and Huawei—as proof of the country’s investment potential.

She also invited new investors to take advantage of President Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy, which encourages around-the-clock productivity, infrastructure utilization, and job creation.

Unlocking Africa’s Economic Potential with AfCFTA

The Minister stressed that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) represents a transformative opportunity. With access to a market of 1.3 billion people and a combined GDP of $3.4 trillion, AfCFTA allows companies operating in Ghana to tap into a vast regional economy.

“Africa’s real strength is not just in our raw materials, but in our ability to process, manufacture, and innovate. That is where long-term prosperity lies—through job creation, value addition, and sustainable growth,” she remarked.

China-Africa Dialogue Emphasizes Green Energy and Innovation

The CEO Dialogue, a highlight of CAETE 2025, focused on green energy development and financial innovation as critical drivers of Africa’s next industrial phase. Ghana positioned itself as a leading player in this transformation, ready to partner with global investors in building a resilient, modern African economy.
