National Security intercepts gold, cash being smuggled
A joint operation by the GoldBod and National Security has resulted in the apprehension of some persons believed to be foreign nationals attempting to smuggle some kilograms of gold.
According to myjoyonline.com, reports suggest that several foreign nationals were arrested while trying to smuggle a substantial quantity of gold.
This operation is part of the government’s efforts to crack down on illegal gold exports.
Gold smuggling attempt violates the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), which strictly prohibits the unauthorized export of gold.
The National Security is expected to provide further details today at its headquarters in Accra.
