Planned maintenance power outages announced by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) are set to affect several regions across the country today. The two energy providers explained that the temporary blackouts are necessary to upgrade infrastructure, replace aging components, and enhance the overall stability of Ghana’s electricity supply network.
The planned maintenance power outages announced will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., depending on the region. ECG stated that the exercise will improve operational efficiency, reduce unexpected faults, and ensure consistent power delivery to consumers ahead of the festive season.
In Greater Accra, the affected areas include Otinibi, Danfa, Kerman, Oyibi, Amrahia, New Bortianor, Adanseman, Cassava Farm, Mr. Obeng Block Factory, Oshiyie, Dome Mega Church, Paa Dan, Israel, Alhaji, and surrounding neighborhoods.
In the Tema Region, power interruptions will affect King Solomon, Santor, Aunty Araba, Agbeshie Laryea, Nelplast, Kubekro, Klagon, Mobole, Otsebreku, Okushibri, Apollonia, Jerusalem, Katamanso, Promised Land, Elegant Homes, and Data Centre. The Ashanti Region will also experience outages in areas such as Atwima Agogo, Mfanse, Mankranso, Kunsu, Sepaase, Nkawie, Mpasaetia, Abuakwa Maakro, Abakomade, parts of Tanoso, Pokukrom, Abuakwa, Kasapreko, Formulation, Asonomaso, Atwima Manhyia, Atwima Koforidua, Tabre, Ntensere, Asakraka, Asempaneye, Afari Military Hospital, Seidi, Hiawu-Besease, Kontomire, Nnerebehi, Mankranso, Boatenkrom, and Bonkwaso.
The Central Region will see outages from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. affecting Ankamu Junction, the Apam District Assembly area, Apam, Manford, and Gomoa Dago. GRIDCo has also scheduled maintenance at the Aflao Bulk Supply Point in the Volta Region from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., which will impact Denu, Aflao, Ave Town, Hedzranawo, Kedzi, Adina, Agavedzi, Keta, Afiadenyinba, Nakyikope, Abor, part of Akatsi, Dzodze, and surrounding areas.
Officials emphasized that this maintenance is essential for preventing sudden faults, ensuring long-term reliability, and supporting the nation’s growing energy demand.
