President Mahama Penalizes Appointees for Missing Asset Declaration Deadline

President John Dramani Mahama has enforced strict measures on government appointees who missed the asset declaration deadline of March 31. These officials are required to forfeit three months of their salaries, which will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, a charity focused on aiding those with chronic illnesses.

In addition to an existing policy that mandates all government appointees to contribute one month’s salary to the health initiative, this penalty effectively deprives defaulting officers of four months’ salary.

The decision was announced by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister in Charge of Government Communications, through a Facebook post on Monday, May 5. He emphasized that those who have yet to comply have until the end of the next day to declare their assets, or they will face immediate dismissal.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCares, aims to provide substantial support to citizens battling chronic health conditions across Ghana.
