Traffic post demanded at Atomic-Kwabenya junction to ease congestion

Motorists in the Atomic–Kwabenya area are demanding a traffic post at Atomic-Kwabenya junction to reduce congestion and improve road safety. The junction, close to Wisconsin International University College, links Agbogba with several residential, business, and academic communities in Accra.

Drivers say the lack of traffic control causes daily delays and frequent accidents. Contractor Ibrahim Kwame Addo, a regular road user, recalled a near collision and urged the National Road Safety Authority and Department of Urban Roads to act. He insisted that a traffic post would protect both motorists and pedestrians.

Emanuel Aidoo Nyarko, a student of Wisconsin International University College, explained that traffic lights at the junction would help reduce delays and prevent accidents, especially during peak hours.

Residents also highlighted economic impacts. Businesses lose revenue when deliveries stall in traffic. Drivers spend more on fuel, while productivity declines due to wasted time.

According to community members, the road has become a critical corridor between northern suburbs and major institutions in Accra. They believe a traffic post near the Papaye restaurant junction would improve safety and traffic flow significantly.

Motorists ended by urging authorities to respond quickly so movement becomes safer and lives are protected.
