🌍 ADC Urges President Mahama to Lead Peace Talks in Togo Amid Rising Unrest

🕊️ ADC Appeals to President Mahama to Intervene in Togo Crisis

The Africa Development Council (ADC) has formally appealed to Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama to take immediate action in mediating peace in Togo, warning that continued inaction could lead to escalating violence and humanitarian fallout.

In a statement released on Wednesday, July 3, 2025, the Council stressed the urgency of diplomatic intervention, noting that President Mahama is uniquely positioned to restore calm given his diplomatic track record.

“As a matter of urgency, President Mahama must diplomatically mediate for peace restoration in Togo to prevent further bloodshed,” the ADC declared.

🤝 Mahama’s Quiet Diplomacy Gets Recognition

The Council acknowledged that President Mahama has already begun behind-the-scenes efforts to ease tensions in Togo.

“We know he has been trying behind closed doors to quench the fire,” ADC stated.

Despite ongoing unrest in Togo, the ADC expressed frustration over inaction by major international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), and ECOWAS.

“World bodies have failed to act,” the Council lamented.

🇬🇭 Ghana’s Rising Role in African Diplomacy

The ADC praised Ghana’s recent diplomatic leadership, calling it the “new hope of Africa” under Mahama’s visionary leadership.

“With the aura around his leadership style, President Mahama can do the magic in restoring peace in Togo,” the statement emphasized.

The Council described Ghana’s increasing relevance as a stabilizing force in West Africa, especially as regional instability threatens cross-border peace and trade.

🏗️ ADC Offers Technical Support for Togo’s Recovery

Beyond mediation, the ADC pledged its readiness to support Togo’s post-crisis recovery efforts, saying:

“We are ready to provide engineering expertise to rebuild Togo’s industrial infrastructure and enhance the value addition of its natural resources.”

This includes the industrial value chain development and other strategic sectors that can help Togo regain stability and economic resilience.
