In a recent legal development, the Accra High Court has imposed a ban on public statements from two individuals involved in a defamation case concerning former Deputy Trade and Industry Minister, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei. The court’s injunction, issued on April 10, 2025, prohibits brand influencer Tina Mensah and S.O Herbal Centre CEO Sophia Ocansey from discussing Asiamah-Adjei or connecting her to the ongoing legal proceedings.
This court action stems from a defamation suit Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei filed against Sophia Ocansey. The former minister claims Ocansey’s comments on platforms like TikTok were defamatory and part of a coordinated attempt to damage her reputation. Seeking GH¢5 million in damages, Asiamah-Adjei underscores the widespread attention these statements have garnered, which she insists are false and malicious.
In a related legal wrangle, Tina Mensah has accused Asiamah-Adjei of blackmail after getting embroiled in a defamation suit filed by Mensah herself. Mensah is pursuing GH¢20 million in damages related to an allegedly unauthorized nude video captured during a private visit to Abigail Kwarteng’s home in Kumasi. Mensah asserts the video’s release led to significant personal and professional harm.
According to Mensah’s claims, the video was filmed without her consent during a heated disagreement with Kwarteng, who she describes as a foster daughter to Asiamah-Adjei. Mensah alleges the footage, leading to the loss of her relationship and endorsement deals, was leaked to social media by Kwarteng.
In response, Asiamah-Adjei denies any involvement with the video’s distribution. She confirmed she has not been formally served with Mensah’s suit but has instructed her lawyers to prepare a full legal response. Asiamah-Adjei invites Mensah to present evidence in court to substantiate her claims, calling them unfounded and orchestrated to malign her reputation.
Mensah is demanding an apology and a court declaration confirming the video’s release was a deliberate attempt to harm her career.
