An Adenta Circuit Court has postponed the case involving Evans Eshun, widely recognized as Ebo Noah, to June 10, 2026. Eshun, a 33-year-old self-proclaimed preacher and former security guard, faces charges of publishing false news intended to incite fear and panic after making sensational claims of a world-ending flood predicted to occur on December 25, 2025.
The court session held on Wednesday saw the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, request additional time to prepare disclosures, prompting the court to reschedule the next hearing to June. Eshun, who attended the proceedings dressed in a white top and nude trousers, was accompanied by his mother and relatives, displaying a cheerful demeanor throughout the session.
Currently out on bail set at GH¢100,000, Eshun is required to meet conditions including two sureties. One of the sureties must present either landed property or a vehicle as collateral. Additionally, Eshun is mandated to report to the police weekly as part of his bail requirements.
The case originates from a series of videos Eshun circulated between August and December 2025 on social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. In these videos, he claimed that a catastrophic flood would obliterate the world on December 25, 2025, and announced that he was constructing an “ark” to rescue believers.
An intelligence-led operation resulted in Eshun’s arrest on December 31, 2025, in Weija-Gbawe, located in the Greater Accra Region. During his caution statement to the police, Eshun admitted to creating and disseminating the videos. He clarified that the vessel he referred to as an “ark” was actually a fishing boat owned by fishermen in Edina, Central Region, and not his personal property.
Eshun further confessed to authorities that the videos were primarily designed to amass followers on social media, acknowledging that there was no actual impending global flood. The case has attracted significant public interest, with many eager to see the outcome of the legal proceedings.
The court’s decision to adjourn the case underscores the complexities involved in balancing freedom of expression with the potential consequences of spreading disinformation. As the next court date approaches, legal experts and the public alike will be closely monitoring developments in this case that has captured national attention.
