Albert Donkor killing: Police report inaccurate – Nkoranza South MP

Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum has said, the report released by the Ghana Police Service with respect to the alleged gruesome killing of one Albert Donkor, a 27 – year old native of Nkoranza is purely fabricated and has no grounds of justification.

The MP’s assertions come after the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) issued a statement defending its position that it is investigating the death of a robbery suspect at Nkoranza.

The Police statement said, “As part of a holistic strategy to tackle the menace of armed robbery, the Police Administration has since August 2021 deployed Special Anti Robbery task forces to all robbery prone areas across the country”.

“These special Anti-Robbery task forces have conducted a series of intelligence-led operations which have contributed immensely to the reduction of armed robbery cases in the affected areas.

The report, however, took a ditch on the killing of a Nkoranza based native, Albert Donkor who the police say, was picked up on the allegations of the being a robbery suspect.

The Police said, “In Bono East region, police gathered intelligence that a suspect, Albert Donkor, and a gang of five other suspected armed robbers, whose names are being withheld for investigation purposes, were involved in several armed robbery attacks in the region, including armed robbery attacks at Nkoranza on April 19, and 20, 2022 respectively”.

“Based on this intelligence, an operation was conducted during which suspect Albert Donkor was shot. He was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival”, the reports said.

But reacting to the release by the police, the Nkoranza South MP, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum took a different dimension and called the bluff of the police, describing it as lies and purely fabricated release.

“All the police releases are fabricated, purely fabricated. There’s no iota of truth in it. Its just to protect what they have done, just to cover up the murder of Albert. There is no truth in it”, he told Kwame Koranteng on Republic FM on Wednesday, May 18.

“We need an investigation, independent autopsy, an independent, verifier independent, independent prosecutor to prosecute those who have caused this harm and that’s all we are looking for”,

According to the MP, the Police have not been able to tell the family where the Lifeless body of Albert Donkor has been kept.

Meanwhile, the police yesterday, clashed with the Youth of Nkoranza leading to the death of one person, leaving 3 critical conditions.
