Archbishop Duncan-Williams Calls for a Ghana Where Citizens Thrive Locally
Renowned spiritual leader and Presiding Archbishop of Action Chapel International (ACI), Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has shared a heartfelt vision for Ghana — one where citizens no longer feel compelled to travel abroad in search of a better life, but instead leave the country solely for tourism and leisure.
Delivering a powerful message at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving in Accra, Archbishop Duncan-Williams urged Ghanaians to embrace their homeland, seek education within Ghana, and believe in the possibility of success right here at home.
“I look forward to a Ghana where our people only travel abroad for holidays—not because they have to, but because they want to,” he said.
Ghana Must Reclaim Its Past Glory, Duncan-Williams Urges
In a passionate reflection, the Archbishop lamented Ghana’s decline in global development rankings, recalling a time when the country was ahead of Singapore, China, and Malaysia. Today, he noted, those countries have made tremendous progress while Ghana has lagged behind.
He called on national leaders—especially President John Dramani Mahama—to prioritize prosperity, justice, and opportunity for all citizens. He emphasized that building a thriving nation requires visionary leadership, unity, and faith in Ghana’s potential.
“It’s time for a national reset—rooted in prayer, purpose, and people-first policies,” he added.
A Plea for National Renewal and Purposeful Leadership
Duncan-Williams emphasized that Ghana must be a place where talent, effort, and innovation are rewarded, making it unnecessary for young people to emigrate in desperation.
He called for a renewed national identity built on hope, resilience, and strategic investments in human capital, education, and economic opportunity.
His remarks come at a time when many Ghanaians are seeking foreign visas not for exploration or adventure—but simply to escape economic hardship, unemployment, and underdevelopment.
