Asante Kotoko Goalkeeper Faces Ban, Fine for Referee Incident

The Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee has imposed a five-match suspension and a GH¢20,000 fine on Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Mohamed Camara, due to inappropriate conduct during a recent league match.

The incident occurred during the Matchday 25 face-off against Karela United, held at Tamale Sports Stadium on March 8, 2026. The closely contested game ended in a 1-0 loss for Asante Kotoko.

According to the GFA’s report, issued on April 21, Camara was charged with unsporting conduct, including the physical assault of the match referee following the final whistle.

The match was fraught with tension, as Kotoko played with ten men following a first-half dismissal. The situation escalated post-match when Camara allegedly used offensive language and physically confronted the referee.

The disciplinary committee has also issued a warning to Camara about maintaining professional conduct in future matches. Additionally, Kotoko’s Welfare Officer, Kwasi Frimpong Amos, was noted for involvement in the post-match altercation.
