Ayawaso North MP Honors Late Colleague Mahama Naser Toure’s Legacy

The recent passing of Mahama Naser Toure, the former MP for Ayawaso East, has created a profound sense of loss within the political landscape of Ghana. Yussif Jajah, the current Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, expressed his condolences and reflected on the considerable influence Toure had on both legislative affairs and community initiatives.

Mahama Naser Toure, who served four terms in Parliament, died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital following a brief illness. Jajah noted Toure’s exceptional contributions during his tenure, stating that his legacy would be challenging to replicate.

“His influence extended beyond politics; he inspired many young leaders, including myself, to strive for public service,” Jajah remarked during a press briefing at Toure’s residence. He credited Toure’s early work in Parliament from 2010 to 2016 as a source of motivation for his own political journey, leading him to run for office in 2017.

One of Toure’s notable community projects, dubbed “Operation Cement Your Lungu,” exemplified his commitment to improving local conditions by rallying community members to enhance sanitation and infrastructure in neglected areas.

Jajah emphasized the lasting impact Toure made in neighborhoods like Nima, where he fostered significant improvements at the Nima Police Station, initiated road development projects, and contributed to the enhancement of facilities at the Nima Government Hospital.

As discussions about Toure’s successor begin, Jajah highlighted the significant expectations that will accompany the next representative, given the high standards Toure established both in Parliament and within his constituency. “The new MP will have a monumental task of building on the foundation Toure laid,” he added.

The final Janāzah prayer for Mahama Naser Toure is scheduled for tomorrow, marking a moment of reflection for his contributions and the legacy he leaves behind.
