Brentford Reject Manchester United’s £62.5m Bid for Bryan Mbeumo

Brentford Dismiss United’s Latest Mbeumo Offer

Brentford have rejected a renewed bid from Manchester United for winger Bryan Mbeumo, despite the offer reaching a total value of £62.5 million. The bid consisted of an upfront payment of £55 million, with an additional £7.5 million in performance-related add-ons.

This follows a previous approach earlier in the month, where United tabled £45 million plus £10 million in bonuses, which was also turned down.

Brentford Hold Firm on Valuation

According to sources close to the negotiations, Brentford are insisting on a minimum guaranteed fee matching the £62.5 million Wolves received for Matheus Cunha. United recently secured Cunha to bolster their attacking options, but they remain determined to add more firepower.

Mbeumo, 25, is under contract with Brentford until summer 2026, giving the West London club a strong negotiating position. The Cameroon international is coming off his most prolific season to date, having scored 20 goals and registered 9 assists across all competitions in the 2024–25 campaign.

Spurs and European Giants Also in the Hunt

Manchester United aren’t alone in their pursuit of Mbeumo. Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager, Thomas Frank — who previously worked with Mbeumo at Brentford — is interested in reuniting with the player. Several Champions League clubs have also shown interest, potentially sparking a transfer tug-of-war this summer.

AFCON Likely to Affect Availability

While clubs line up for his signature, Mbeumo’s participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is a consideration. Cameroon begin their tournament on December 24 against Gabon, meaning Mbeumo is expected to miss around four weeks of the Premier League season.

He is a teammate of United goalkeeper Andre Onana on the international stage, which could be a factor in negotiations.

Brentford Journey: From Championship to Premier League Star

Mbeumo joined Brentford from French side Troyes in 2019, back when the Bees were still a Championship side. Since then, he’s become a key figure in their rise, contributing 70 goals in 242 appearances and helping the club secure Premier League promotion in 2021.

As the summer transfer window heats up, Brentford remain firm — but United’s interest is unlikely to fade.
