In the realm of Ghanaian politics, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has made a significant announcement. The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) declared his intention to run for the position of National Chairman of the party, setting his sights on shaping the NPP’s future as it gears up for the 2028 general elections.
During a recent appearance on Wontumi Radio, Chairman Wontumi revealed that his decision followed a period of spiritual reflection and divine guidance. He expressed confidence that he had received a clear sign from God to pursue the party’s national leadership role.
“Once the nominations open, I plan to submit my application formally,” Chairman Wontumi stated. “I have sought God’s guidance and am ready to serve the NPP, aiming to ensure victory in the 2028 elections.”
Meanwhile, the NPP, under the leadership of its 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is on a nationwide ‘Thank You’ tour. This tour aims to express gratitude to party members and Ghanaians for their support during the 2024 elections. Commencing on April 26, 2025, in the Western Region, the tour is themed “In All Things, Give Thanks to God,” inspired by 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
This initiative not only acknowledges support but also seeks to fortify unity and strengthen the connection between the NPP leadership and its grassroots members. The tour will culminate in an interfaith Thanksgiving service, embracing both Christian and Islamic traditions.
Stay tuned for more updates on Chairman Wontumi’s campaign and the NPP’s activities as they prepare for upcoming elections.
