In a significant legal development, the Amasaman High Court has shortened the prison sentence of Patricia Asiedua, known as Nana Agradaa, from 15 years to just one year. This decision was made on February 5, 2026, after the court deemed the original sentence excessively harsh.
The court’s ruling, reported by GHOne TV, indicates that the new sentence will commence from the date of her conviction on July 3, 2025. Consequently, Nana Agradaa has approximately five months left to serve in prison.
Nana Agradaa is currently incarcerated at the Nsawam Female Prison following her conviction for fraudulent practices, which included promoting a money-doubling scheme that defrauded numerous church members. Prosecutors accused her of soliciting large sums from attendees during a service that promised miraculous financial returns through spiritual means.
Evidence presented during the trial highlighted that over 1,000 individuals participated in the all-night service, many of whom contributed significant amounts of money based on Agradaa’s assurances. However, these promises went unfulfilled, leading to widespread financial distress among her followers.
Following her conviction, Agradaa and her legal team filed an appeal, asserting that the trial was unjust and the evidence insufficient to uphold the original ruling. They contended that the severity of the 15-year sentence was unwarranted.
Agradaa first appeared before the Amasaman High Court for her appeal hearing on December 4, 2025, where she sought to overturn the earlier decision.
