Dr. Amoako Baah Announces New Political Party: The New Patriotic Front

In a recent exclusive interview with TV3, Dr. Amoako Baah, a seasoned political scientist and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), unveiled plans for launching a new political entity — the New Patriotic Front (NPF). This development comes in response to growing dissatisfaction with the current NPP leadership, which Dr. Baah accuses of corruption and incompetence.

A Call for Change

Dr. Baah emphasized that the NPF aims to realign with the core values that the NPP originally stood for but believes have been lost. The decision to form this new party follows a disappointing performance by the NPP in the 2024 general elections, which he attributes to leadership failures.

He criticized the current leadership for creating an environment that stifles reform efforts: “We want to fix the party, but those involved in wrongdoing are the ones in charge. Do you think they will willingly give you a chance to throw them out? No, they won’t. The shortest way around this thing is to form a new party,” he told 3news.com.

Invitation to NPP Supporters

Dr. Baah is urging NPP supporters to switch allegiance to the New Patriotic Front once it is officially launched. He is confident that the NPF will restore the principles and integrity that the NPP once championed: “All NPP supporters should join the new party that is coming up, the New Patriotic Front. When it comes out, join. That will be the real party,” he stated.

Criticism of NPP Leadership

In his candid remarks, Dr. Baah did not hold back from criticizing former President Nana Akufo-Addo. He accused the former president of displaying arrogance and estranging party members, including Parliamentarians. Dr. Baah lamented, “If I were the chairman, I would have thrown him out of the party. Because no president should be given any power to do such a thing.”

As the political landscape in Ghana evolves, the anticipated launch of the New Patriotic Front could signal significant shifts in party dynamics and voter allegiances.
