In a significant leadership change, President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo as the new Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. This appointment follows the dismissal of the previous CEO, Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah.
The official confirmation came through a statement dated April 30, 2025, which was signed by Callistus Mahama, the Secretary to the President. The statement instructed that Dr. Baidoo’s appointment be regularized in accordance with the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525), as amended.
This leadership switch has elicited varied reactions, notably from the Asante youth, who are calling on President Mahama to reconsider and reinstate Prof. Addai-Mensah.
