England Manager Tuchel recalls Bellingham and Foden in a bold squad selection as the Three Lions prepare for the final World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Serbia and Albania. Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden were both left out of the last squad but have now been brought back by Thomas Tuchel due to strong club form and renewed fitness.
Bellingham, currently starring for Real Madrid, is expected to operate in a No. 10 role—a position Tuchel says suits him best. Foden, meanwhile, is set to play centrally rather than out wide, offering added flexibility in attack. Tuchel described their return as “well-timed” and said both players are in excellent condition.
The squad announcement also featured the surprise inclusion of Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, who earns his first senior cap after excelling in the Under-21 Euro 2025 tournament. “Alex deserves to be with us,” said Tuchel, praising the 22-year-old’s form and potential.
Several regular starters were omitted, including Morgan Gibbs‑White, Ruben Loftus‑Cheek and Ollie Watkins, as the manager opted to refresh the group and reward performance rather than reputation alone.
With the squad already qualified for the World Cup, Tuchel indicated that the coming fixtures will serve as preparation and assessment for emerging talent. The return of Bellingham and Foden, combined with fresh faces like Scott, signals a significant shift in England’s approach under their new manager. The focus now will be on blending youth and experience to build a competitive squad for both Europe and the global stage.
