GETFund Allocates GH₵199.47m for Free SHS and TVET Supplies

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has announced the release of GH₵199.47 million to address outstanding payments for perishable goods essential for the Free Senior High School (FSHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. This funding, issued via three cheques on a recent Monday afternoon, aims to settle debts accumulated between October and February for FSHS and from October to December for TVET institutions.

This financial commitment highlights the government’s dedication to fulfilling its fiscal responsibilities to suppliers who are crucial in maintaining logistics and food supplies for educational institutions across Ghana. The timely disbursement is anticipated to alleviate financial strains on suppliers, many of whom have been impacted by delayed payments, and to ensure a steady supply of necessary perishables for students.

GETFund emphasized its ongoing commitment to prompt payments and active engagement with stakeholders to enhance the educational service delivery nationwide. This strategic move is part of broader efforts to stabilize the FSHS and TVET initiatives, thereby improving conditions for both students and service providers.
