A Cultural Movement for Development
The Ghana Chieftaincy Awards and Royal Investment Summit officially kicked off its 2025 edition on July 17 at the Swiss Spirit Alisa Hotel in Accra. This year’s theme, “A United Front for Environmental Awareness, Royal Investment and Tourism Promotion,” signals a renewed focus on uniting Ghana’s traditional leaders to promote environmental consciousness, economic empowerment, and cultural tourism.
The event was spearheaded by His Majesty Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Paramount Chief of the Abeadze Traditional Area and Board Chairman of the Ghana Chieftaincy Awards. His presence reinforced the pivotal role of traditional authority in achieving sustainable development.
Bridging Tradition with Modern Development
Nana Obokese Ampah, CEO of the Obokese Foundation and lead organizer, outlined four key pillars guiding the initiative:
-
Strengthening the chieftaincy institution
-
Empowering women and youth
-
Supporting rural communities
-
Fostering diaspora integration
These pillars are designed to deepen the impact of traditional leadership in national development while promoting unity and inclusion.
Blackstar Experience Joins as Strategic Partner
A new partnership with The Blackstar Experience was also unveiled. Its Coordinator, Rex Owusu Marfo, highlighted how this collaboration will use royal networks to attract ethical investments, uplift cultural businesses, and create sustainable jobs—especially for youth and women. This aligns with the summit’s mission to blend cultural preservation with modern economic solutions.
A Prestigious Celebration of Excellence
The 2025 awards, often referred to as the Nananom Honours, will be held on October 3rd and 4th at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. The ceremony will recognize chiefs who excel in governance, cultural preservation, and community transformation.
