In a disturbing turn of events, Chiaky Otuteye, a medical doctor and the crowned Miss Intercontinental Ghana 2025, has come forward with allegations of mistreatment and online harassment following her victory. Chiaky, who was crowned on November 8, 2025, shared her experiences during an interview with Joy FM on February 21, 2026.
Beauty pageants are often seen as platforms for empowerment, but for Chiaky, the aftermath of her crowning was marred by severe online backlash. Just a day after her win, Chiaky awoke to a flurry of notifications on her social media accounts, initially believing them to be congratulatory messages. Instead, she discovered a wave of derogatory comments targeting her appearance.
She recounted that the negativity escalated after a video of her post-crowning interview was shared online by the pageant’s official blogger. The video, which featured Chiaky discussing her participation in the contest, was accompanied by a misleading caption that distorted her words and led viewers to misconstrue her intentions.
In her own words, Chiaky stated, “I joined the pageant to demonstrate that beauty encompasses intelligence, and they twisted my message.” The fallout was immediate, with many users resorting to cruel name-calling and making offensive comparisons about her looks.
Despite reaching out to the pageant organizers, Cloudz Entertainment, for assistance in removing the video, Chiaky claims her concerns were brushed aside. The video, which remained online for months, was only taken down in January 2026 after wide circulation.
As the online abuse continued, Chiaky was summoned for an emergency meeting with the organizers. During this meeting, she was informed that the international pageant body had concerns about her qualifications and had decided to disqualify her. Chiaky was shown an email detailing various standards she allegedly failed to meet, including criteria deemed subjective, such as poise and beauty.
Feeling unjustly treated, she argued that she met all the official requirements for the competition. The communication with the organizers deteriorated, leading to an email stating they could no longer represent her and requesting the return of her crown and sash within two days.
The following day, Chiaky was shocked to see a public announcement on social media declaring her dethronement due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The press release subsequently introduced a new titleholder, Patience Adedeafe Mawusi, the fourth runner-up, as the new representative for Ghana at the international competition.
In a response to the unfolding controversy, Cloudz Entertainment released a statement claiming that the situation is currently under legal review, thus refraining from further public comments. As Chiaky shares her story, it raises critical questions about the treatment of beauty queens and the impact of social media on personal lives.
