Justice Mabel Maame Agyemang is an exemplary figure in the legal landscape, having achieved the prestigious role of Chief Justice in two distinct nations. Born in Kumasi, Ghana, she has established an impressive judicial career that has made her a trailblazer for women in law.
Agyemang’s legal journey began after she was called to the Ghana Bar in 1987, following her education at Wesley Girls Senior High School and the University of Ghana. Her early career saw her excel across various judicial roles in several cities, including Accra, Cape Coast, and Tema, where she gained a reputation for her meticulous approach to justice.
Her ascent continued as she became the first female Chief Justice of The Gambia in 2013, a historic milestone that underscored her influence in the legal community. Although her tenure there was cut short in early 2014, her commitment to justice did not wane.
