Ghanaian musician Sam Sarfo Junior, widely recognized as Showboy, has found himself in legal trouble after being taken into custody by police authorities. This arrest comes on the heels of a widely circulated video that depicted him allegedly resisting police action.
In the footage that has garnered significant attention on social media, Showboy can be seen handcuffed while engaging with law enforcement personnel. Throughout the encounter, he expressed his discontent, stating, “This is so… wrong.” A voice from behind the camera, claiming to represent the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), indicated that officers had been directed to detain the musician.
During the exchange, Showboy requested a drink of water and asked to consult with his psychiatrist, asserting that he is a psychiatric patient. Police officers responded with composure, attempting to de-escalate the situation.
This incident marks a continuation of tensions surrounding Showboy, as it follows a previous attempt to arrest him at his home. In that earlier confrontation, which unfolded while he was livestreaming on TikTok, he confronted the officers, arguing that they had not provided the necessary documentation for his arrest. His refusal to comply with their demands was broadcast to his online audience, where he claimed he could not be apprehended without proper authority.
As of now, the exact reasons for Showboy’s arrest remain unclear, with the Ghana Police Service yet to release an official statement regarding the charges.
