The Government of Ghana has given the green light to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to acquire 200 new transformers to enhance power transmission and distribution in major cities across the country. This initiative aims to ensure a reliable electricity supply to support national development.
Press Conference Highlights
At the recent West Africa Mining and Power Exhibition (WAMPEX) in Accra, the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, announced that, following governmental approval, ECG has been instructed to integrate the new transformers into the system immediately. The goal is to bolster the stability and reliability of electricity distribution.
According to Mr. Jinapor, while initial challenges with power generation have been successfully addressed—allowing Ghana to export electricity to neighboring countries—improvements in the transmission and distribution network remain a priority.
