The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has terminated the contracts of all Regional and Zonal Coordinators under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) with immediate effect.
In an official statement dated March 4, 2025, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, announced the mass termination, expressing gratitude to the affected coordinators for their service.
“Please be informed that the contracts of all Regional and Zonal Coordinators of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) are hereby terminated with immediate effect,” the statement read.
The affected coordinators have been instructed to report to the GSFP Secretariat to collect their termination letters and complete the handover process.
The statement, which was copied to the Chief Director, the National Coordinator of GSFP, and the Controller and Accountant General, did not provide specific reasons for the abrupt terminations.
The GSFP is a government initiative aimed at providing free meals to schoolchildren to improve enrollment, attendance, and nutrition. However, the programme has faced persistent challenges, including funding delays, allegations of corruption, and unpaid arrears to caterers.
The latest development raises concerns about the future of the programme and its impact on schoolchildren nationwide.
