Hajia Amina Adams Leads NDC Primary Polls in Ayawaso East Constituency

In a significant development ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries, Hajia Amina Adams has emerged as the leading candidate in the Ayawaso East Constituency, according to a recent poll conducted by Global Info Analytics.

The survey, released on February 5, 2026, indicates that Adams, who is the widow of the late MP Mahama Naser Toure, has garnered 58% of voter support among delegates and party supporters. This impressive lead positions her as the frontrunner in what is expected to be a highly competitive race.

Mussa Dankwah, the Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, shared the findings, emphasizing the substantial gap between Adams and her primary competitors. The data suggests a close contest primarily between Adams and Baba Jamal, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, who holds 32% support. Together, the two candidates account for 90% of the total voter preference, indicating a significant divide in the constituency.

Political analysts attribute Adams’ strong showing to her extensive grassroots engagement, sympathy from voters due to her late husband’s legacy, and a growing confidence among the party’s base regarding her ability to represent the NDC effectively in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Despite trailing behind, Baba Jamal’s support is notable for his long-standing political experience and familiarity within the constituency. Experts suggest that his chances in the primary will rely heavily on his ability to mobilize delegates and attract undecided voters as election day approaches.

Other candidates in the race, including Muhammed Ramne, Dr. Yakubu Azindow, and Najib Muhammed Sani, collectively account for the remaining 10% of the voter preference.

The upcoming primaries are poised to be a pivotal moment for the NDC as they prepare for the national elections, and the dynamics of this contest will be closely monitored by political watchers in the lead-up to voting.
