Kuami Eugene, a prominent figure in Ghana’s music scene, recently recounted his humble beginnings in music production during an interview. At just 17 years old, he took the bold step of establishing his first recording studio in the kitchen of his mother’s home.
The young artist emphasized the significant influence his mother had on his career, revealing that she had invested her savings to purchase a computer for him, allowing him to explore his passion for music. ‘She has been a blessing to my career,’ Kuami Eugene expressed, showcasing his deep gratitude for her unwavering support.
Despite the challenges posed by the lack of air conditioning in their small kitchen studio, Kuami Eugene persevered, often facing the heat while working on his music. He noted that his mother frequently checked on him, concerned about his well-being in the sweltering conditions. Nevertheless, this makeshift studio became the foundation upon which he built his future in the music industry.
As his career progressed, the budding musician faced additional hurdles. At the age of 18, he moved out of his mother’s house in Fadama after receiving complaints from neighbors about the noise generated by his music production. This transition marked a significant turning point for him, as it allowed him to pursue his craft with greater freedom.
Kuami Eugene’s participation in the MTN Hitmaker competition was a crucial milestone, leading to his signing with Lynx Entertainment. His breakout hit, ‘Angela,’ catapulted him into the limelight, earning him widespread recognition and acclaim.
His story serves as a powerful reminder of the vital role family support plays in the pursuit of one’s dreams, as well as the resilience required to navigate the challenges of a budding music career.
