Kylian Mbappe struggles under PSG spotlight have been laid bare by his mother, Fayza Lamari, who revealed the emotional toll of her son’s fame and isolation during his years in Paris. Speaking during a panel at Demain le Sport, she described how life “no longer felt human” for the French star under constant media scrutiny.
Lamari said that while Kylian enjoyed massive success at Paris Saint-Germain, the relentless attention often left him emotionally drained. “Kylian in Paris was like a magnifying glass on his flaws; he was no longer human,” she confessed. “He can’t even walk down the street anymore. It makes me sad.” Her words painted a picture of a young athlete living in a world where fame became both a blessing and a burden.
The former handball player also admitted that fame was never something her family sought. “We were not prepared to become public figures,” she added, highlighting how the Mbappes struggled to maintain normalcy amid the pressures of football stardom.
Lamari reflected on the turning point in her son’s career during the 2018 World Cup, a moment that marked the beginning of his global rise. Watching him celebrate victory from afar, she realised their lives would never be the same again. “When I saw him walking down the Champs-Elysées, I knew he was slipping away from me,” she said.
After years of tension and speculation, Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid in 2024 offered him a new beginning. Although his debut season lacked silverware, he has since found renewed energy under coach Xabi Alonso, scoring 14 goals in just 10 appearances this season.
Lamari’s revelations remind fans that behind the glamour of fame lies the silent struggle of athletes who live under a magnifying glass — always seen, but rarely understood.
