Road Construction in Ledzokuku Starts This July
The Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, Benjamin Narteh Ayiku, has confirmed that major road construction and rehabilitation works will commence by the end of July 2025. This comes after growing concerns from Teshie residents and commuters over the worsening condition of inner-city roads in the Greater Accra Region.
Over 40km of Roads to Be Upgraded
According to Mr. Ayiku, a total of 40.3 kilometers of roads in the constituency have been earmarked for full-scale construction. The work is part of a larger infrastructure enhancement plan spearheaded by the government.
Speaking to Citi News on Sunday, July 13, the MP emphasized the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly’s focus on critical development projects, including drainage improvements to help preserve roads and reduce flooding.
Assurances from the Roads Minister
Mr. Ayiku revealed that following a recent meeting with the Minister of Roads and Highways, he received firm assurances that the nationwide infrastructure drive — known as the ‘Big Push’ — would be significantly ramping up in the coming weeks.
“The Big Push is coming, and most of our major roads will be put in good shape,” he said. “Be assured, our president is action-oriented and responds to the concerns of the public.”
Drainage Rehabilitation Also Underway
In addition to the road upgrades, the Municipal Assembly is also tackling drainage challenges. Poor drainage has been a major cause of road deterioration in the area. The MP expressed confidence that residents would begin to see visible improvements before the end of the month.
About the ‘Big Push’ Initiative
The ‘Big Push’ is a flagship infrastructure policy introduced by the National Democratic Congress (NDC). It aims to fast-track Ghana’s development through robust infrastructure investment, with a focus on roads, health, education, and job creation.
With road construction in Ledzokuku set to begin soon, residents can expect a major transformation in road conditions and related public infrastructure.
