During his State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama announced a significant initiative to complete 23 key road projects that were left unfinished by the previous administration. The estimated cost for these projects is around GH¢15 billion.
President Mahama highlighted that these infrastructure developments are vital components of the government’s strategic ‘Big Push’ program, which aims to stimulate economic growth, generate employment, and enhance connectivity throughout Ghana.
Many of the roads have languished incomplete for several years, causing difficulties for travelers and stifling trade in the impacted regions. “Our administration is dedicated to making sure that every Cedi invested in infrastructure yields benefits for the Ghanaian populace,” stated Mahama. He emphasized that the focus is not solely on road construction but on laying a robust foundation for economic advancement and regional integration.
The government is committed to expediting the completion of these projects, prioritizing quality, timely delivery, and transparency in the allocation and use of public funds.
