Mark Okraku-Mantey Voices Support for Bawumia Ahead of NPP Primaries

Mark Okraku-Mantey, the former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has publicly endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the lead-up to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries. Speaking during the voting phase on January 31, 2026, he emphasized Bawumia’s potential to both lead and unify the party.

Okraku-Mantey acknowledged that internal party elections often evoke strong opinions among members but stressed the importance of solidarity following the announcement of results. He indicated confidence that the results would be available shortly after polling concludes, stating, “If the results come out after five o’clock, you will know where you are.”

He reaffirmed that his allegiance to the NPP is grounded in its core values and vision rather than individual personalities. “I belong to the party because of its direction and its values,” he declared, urging supporters to maintain composure and rationality after the primaries, regardless of the outcome for their preferred candidates.

Okraku-Mantey called for all party members to unite behind the winner of the primaries, highlighting the necessity for responsible behavior as emotions may run high during this critical period.
