In a recent development aimed at bolstering security in the North East Region, the Minister for the Interior has announced a modification to the curfew schedule for Nalerigu Township and its surrounding areas. The new curfew will now be in effect from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, starting January 5, 2026. This decision comes following consultations with the National Security Council and is formalized through an Executive Instrument.
Authorities are calling upon local leaders, including Chiefs, Elders, and Youth, to maintain calm and seek peaceful solutions amidst the ongoing challenges faced by the community. The government emphasizes the importance of non-violent approaches to foster stability and harmony in the region.
Additionally, a complete prohibition has been placed on the possession of arms, ammunition, and any offensive weapons within Nalerigu Township and its vicinity. Law enforcement has been instructed to detain and prosecute anyone found in violation of this directive, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety.
