The Office of the Administrator of Stool Lands (OASL) is set to revolutionize land administration in the country by launching an initiative to establish 300 new Customary Land Secretariats (CLSs) starting in 2026. This strategic move is designed to bolster the management of customary lands in accordance with the Land Act of 2020 (Act 1036).
In an announcement made by Mr. Gad Asorwoe Akwensivie, the Acting Administrator of Stool Lands, the initiative aims not only to enhance the efficiency of customary land governance but also to create approximately 6,000 jobs nationwide. The expansion of CLSs is expected to provide local communities with better access to land services and resources.
This initiative comes at a crucial time when effective land administration is vital for sustainable development. By establishing these secretariats, the OASL hopes to empower local leaders and stakeholders, ensuring that land management practices reflect the needs and rights of the communities they serve.
