No Injuries Reported in Circle Tip Toe Lane Market Fire Incident

On January 20, 2026, a fire broke out at the Circle Tip Toe Lane market, resulting in significant property damage but fortunately no reported injuries or fatalities. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) officials confirmed this during a response operation at the scene.

The Head of Public Relations for GNFS, DOII Desmond Ackah, provided updates on the situation, assuring the public that both firefighters and market-goers were unharmed. He stated, “We have not recorded any fatalities or injuries, whether among firefighters or civilians,” emphasizing the successful containment of the blaze.

The fire erupted around mid-morning and quickly engulfed several shops, primarily constructed from wood. Eyewitnesses described the rapid spread of the flames, which raised concerns among onlookers. However, the swift action of the fire service helped to control the situation before it escalated further.

DOII Ackah noted that the fire was confined to a specific area, preventing it from affecting adjacent structures. “When we say the fire has been confined, it means we have stopped it from spreading,” he explained, alleviating fears of further destruction in the densely populated market area.

Firefighters deployed multiple fire tenders to combat the flames effectively. As they worked diligently to extinguish the remaining hotspots, the community expressed gratitude for the prompt response of the emergency services.

This incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of market areas to fire outbreaks, prompting discussions about fire safety measures in such densely packed environments.
