NPP Flagbearer Dr. Bawumia Urged to Foster Unity Within Party

In the aftermath of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) recent internal elections, Awentami Paul Afoko, who is vying for the position of National Chairman, has emphasized the importance of unity and disciplined collaboration among party members. This call comes in light of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s election as the party’s candidate for the 2028 general elections.

Afoko released a statement praising the electoral process, describing it as ‘vigorous, democratic, and transparent.’ He expressed confidence in the choice made by party delegates, who have now entrusted Dr. Bawumia with the leadership role as the party prepares for the upcoming electoral cycle.

“We have a clear mission ahead of us: to reorganize our party, reconnect with the people of Ghana, and establish a credible vision for national renewal,” remarked Afoko. He also acknowledged the other candidates for the flagbearership, including notable figures such as Kennedy Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong. Afoko commended their participation, asserting that their candidacies enriched the democratic process and highlighted the strong leadership potential within the party.

In his address to party officials and grassroots supporters nationwide, Afoko stressed the necessity of cohesion following the elections. He recognized that while differing opinions are natural within a democratic framework, it is essential that unity triumphs after collective decisions are reached. “What unites us—our commitment to individual liberty, adherence to the rule of law, and the pursuit of shared prosperity—must take precedence over any temporary disagreements,” he declared.

Concluding his message, Afoko signed off with a pledge of commitment to the party, stating, “Yours in Unity and Service.” His remarks aim to galvanize the NPP as it embarks on the journey towards the 2028 elections.
