Osei Kwame Despite Addresses Rumors of NACOC Arrest in Viral Video

Osei Kwame Despite, a prominent entrepreneur in Ghana, has recently addressed swirling rumors that suggested his involvement in an alleged arrest by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC). This speculation arose following reports on February 11, 2026, which indicated that NACOC had apprehended an individual attempting to smuggle cocaine concealed within packaged food items at Kotoka International Airport.

According to the reports, a manager from a well-known Ghanaian food brand was remanded for this serious offense. The ambiguity of the announcement led to rampant speculation on social media, with users attempting to identify the individual in question, as well as the brand implicated.

As discussions escalated, several names surfaced, including those of established figures in the food industry, notably Belinda Big Cheezy, CEO of Chez Amis, and Osei Kwame Despite himself. However, on February 12, 2026, Kwame Despite took to social media to humorously dismiss the allegations in a video. While leaving a funeral service in Kumasi, he was seen engaging with a blogger from Plus 1 TV, playfully stating, “I’ve been arrested and you didn’t tell me.”

His light-hearted response was well-received, providing a moment of levity amid the intense online scrutiny. In an effort to clarify the situation, Alexander Twum-Barimah, the Deputy Director-General of NACOC, later confirmed in an interview on TV3 that the individuals arrested in connection with the drug case were not affiliated with any of the popular food brands mentioned in the rumors.

This series of events illustrates the rapid spread of misinformation on social media and highlights the importance of verifying facts before drawing conclusions.
