On February 1, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana is set to embark on a significant journey to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This trip precedes his official state visit to Zambia and is part of his participation in the prestigious World Governments Summit 2026, scheduled from February 2 to 4, as announced in an official communication from the Presidency.
The invitation for this trip was extended by the UAE ruler, emphasizing the collaborative spirit between the two nations. During the summit, President Mahama will engage with a diverse array of global leaders, policymakers, and experts focused on governance and innovative strategies to tackle pressing worldwide issues.
A special aircraft, generously provided by the UAE’s ruler, will transport President Mahama and his delegation first to Dubai and then to Zambia, where they are expected to arrive for a three-day state visit from February 4 to 6, 2026. This arrangement highlights the strong diplomatic ties between Ghana and the UAE, showcasing the significance of the discussions planned during this trip.
In Zambia, President Mahama will meet with President Hakainde Hichilema, deliver an address to the Zambian National Assembly, and interact with members of the Ghanaian community residing in Lusaka, further solidifying bilateral relations.
