In a bid to accelerate development in the Bono Region, President John Dramani Mahama has embarked on an inspection tour of significant infrastructure projects in Sunyani. The President’s visit, part of his ongoing Resetting Ghana Tour, highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and educational facilities.
Among the key projects reviewed was the site earmarked for the Bono Regional Airport at Nsuatre, strategically positioned to transform Sunyani into an aviation hub. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ghana Airport Company, aims to improve air travel accessibility in the region.
Another focal point was the 34-kilometer Sunyani Outer Ring Road, a critical project undertaken by Kofi Job Constructions. This road is designed to alleviate traffic congestion by providing an alternative route that circumvents the busy city center.
The President also assessed the progress of several GETFund initiatives at Sunyani Senior High School (SUSEC). These include the construction of a two-storey, 12-unit science classroom block, a science laboratory, two dormitory buildings, and essential facilities such as a lavatory and staff housing. President Mahama emphasized the need for timely completion of these projects to enhance educational infrastructure.
During his visit, President Mahama inaugurated the National Signals Bureau’s new Bono Regional Office and addressed a gathering of local leaders and residents at the University of Energy and Renewable Natural Resources. He concluded his tour by awarding grants to 245 participants of the Adwumawura programme, underscoring his administration’s dedication to regional development.
