Turkish MotoGP star Toprak Razgatliouglu, riding for Prima Pramac Yamaha, is set to undergo a Long Lap penalty at the upcoming Jerez Grand Prix. The decision by the FIM MotoGP Stewards follows an incident during the Tissot Sprint race where Razgatliouglu collided with Aprilia’s wildcard entry, Lorenzo Savadori, resulting in a crash for both competitors.
The penalty adds Razgatliouglu to a growing list of riders facing challenges at Jerez. Fellow competitor Joan Mir of Honda HRC Castrol is also required to complete a Long Lap penalty, albeit twice, due to previous infractions. Additionally, Jorge Martin of Aprilia Racing will face a three-place grid penalty.
Razgatliouglu had earlier captured attention with a remarkable save in the FP2 session, showcasing his skill and quick reflexes. However, the focus now shifts to how he will navigate the setback of the penalty during the main race event.
