Shatta Wale Sues Blakk Rasta for GH¢100 Million Over Defamation Claims

In a significant legal move, renowned Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has initiated a defamation lawsuit against popular broadcaster Blakk Rasta, seeking GH¢100 million in damages. The case was filed at the Accra High Court following a video that Blakk Rasta shared on his digital platforms on December 15, 2025.

The controversial video, titled ‘Shatta Wale, self-confessed king of fraud,’ allegedly contains statements that link the musician to fraudulent activities. Shatta Wale’s legal representatives argue that these claims are not only misleading but also severely damaging to his reputation.

According to the lawsuit, the video quickly gained traction on social media, amassing over 170,000 views on platforms such as Facebook and YouTube within a single day. The plaintiff contends that the content suggested he was entangled in fraudulent schemes and associated with cybercriminals, allegations he vehemently denies.

Shatta Wale claims that the fallout from the video has adversely affected his credibility in the entertainment industry, strained his relationships with sponsors and business partners, and caused emotional turmoil for him and his loved ones.

In addition to the financial compensation, Shatta Wale is requesting a clear declaration from the court that the statements made by Blakk Rasta were defamatory. He also seeks an order for the broadcaster to remove the video and any related content from his social media profiles.

Furthermore, the artist is asking for a permanent injunction against any future defamatory remarks, alongside a public apology and retraction to be disseminated both online and in prominent national newspapers. This lawsuit not only highlights the contentious relationship between public figures and the media but also raises questions about the impact of social media on reputations.

Shatta Wale’s pursuit of justice underscores the serious ramifications that defamation can have, particularly in the high-stakes world of entertainment.
