The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released all withheld results from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), relieving thousands of affected candidates.
WAEC initially withheld over 10,000 results due to suspected cases of examination malpractice. However, following a legal battle and mounting pressure, including threats of nationwide protests by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), the council has now made the results available.
John Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, confirmed in an interview with Citi FM that all pending results had been uploaded by the promised deadline of February 28, in compliance with a court order.
“The court had ordered that we should release the results of those candidates, and so we’ve gone ahead with all the results. There are no outstanding results as far as these exams are concerned,” he stated.
Despite the release, some candidates may experience delays accessing their results and may have concerns. Mr. Kapi assured that WAEC is prepared to address any complaints.
The release marks the end of a tense period for students and their families, allowing candidates to now focus on their academic and professional aspirations.
