In a significant legal move, Ghanaian actor and football executive Yaw Dabo has filed a defamation lawsuit against his colleague Oboy Siki, seeking damages amounting to GH¢1 million.
The legal action, initiated at the Adum High Court in Kumasi, arises from a series of accusations made by Oboy Siki regarding Dabo’s personal life and professional capabilities in football management. Dabo asserts that these statements have severely tarnished his public image.
Among the allegations are claims that Oboy Siki suggested Dabo is incapable of fathering children and branded him as selfish, stating that he lacks the qualities to marry successfully. Furthermore, the suit questions Dabo’s expertise in managing football affairs, adding to the gravity of the accusations.
During the court proceedings on February 23, 2026, Dabo’s attorney, Lawyer Diana, informed the court that Oboy Siki had not responded to the lawsuit. She noted, “Defamation action is not imprisonment or a penalty. The defendants were served but did not enter an appearance or provide a defense.” This lack of response led Dabo to insist on moving forward with the case.
However, in a recent court appearance, discussions between the parties led to the withdrawal of the application to proceed with the lawsuit. Lawyer Diana revealed that a suggestion for an amicable resolution prompted this decision. “We will return to court, but we are giving them some time to propose a solution. Dabo will consider their response before our next court date,” she stated.
The situation remains dynamic as both parties prepare for further discussions, aiming to resolve the matter outside of court.
